AWAKEN TO YOUR TRUE SELF
"Buddha" literally means “awakened one.”
Over 2,500 years ago, the Buddha saw into the cause of human suffering and found a path to a happy and meaningful life. The path of Buddhism is the path to awakening or realization. We awaken to our true self, which is one with all beings and all things.
Shin Buddhism is a non-monastic tradition founded by Shinran Shonin (1173-1263). Our main practice is listening to the teachings. It is a family-friendly path that all ages can participate in together.
Anyone and anything can be a teacher to us, if we have the heart and mind to listen, to learn, and to receive.
OUR TEMPLES
BCA is comprised of over 60 Shin Buddhist communities across the United States.
Most temple locations remain closed to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic, but may offer livestream services, videos, Zoom discussions, and other activities online. Search for a Buddhist temple near you or browse any temple's digital offerings to learn more.
"If one walks looking far ahead and pays no attention to the ground beneath his feet, he will stumble. If one gazes critically upon others and forgets to look into himself, he will bring tragedy upon himself. "
